Episode 18 | Baection Do’s and Don’ts with Arielle and Paul Calcote

Y’all I’m so excited about this episode! This is a first for the podcast, as I have a couple joining as podcast guests! We are welcoming Arielle and Paul Calcote from the ‘Real People, Real Talk’ Podcast. This episode is all about traveling with your partner and they’ll be sharing do’s and don’ts for the perfect baection!

[02:21] They want to teach God’s people that it is more than okay to love the Lord and have fun.
[02:44] On their podcast, Real People, Real Talk they talk about taking listeners from surviving to thriving spiritually, physically, financially, mentally, and relationally.
[04:46] Traveling allows us to rest, go to new places, and connect with one another.
[07:27] Traveling is for making and creating memories.
[10:27] Each day at the end of the day they reflect on the day and talk about their top three highlights of the day.
[11:41] Ways to reconnect with your partner while traveling: dating each other, trying new things, and going to new places.
[15:57] Celebrate your differences as opposed to allowing them to divide you.
[17:20] ‘We are going to do all that we can but at the same time build in some days for rest.’ Be more flexible and allow for spontaneity.
[20:00] Think about 1-2 things you really want to do instead of planning a tight itinerary to allow for flexibility and spontaneity. Having a few plans locked in stone are helpful to guide the trip.
[22:05] Don’t get so caught up in the euphoria of the trip that you blow your budget.
[24:21] Don’t get caught up in all the bad stuff that can happen. You want to enjoy your vacation so don’t get caught up in the small things.
[25:32] Resolve conflict as soon as you can. Don’t hold a grudge.
[29:49] It is important to communicate your needs on the trip. Don’t be afraid to communicate about how you travel and what a person may deal with.
[30:21] Collaborate with your partner to include activities that they want to do also.
[35:59] Arielle’s favorite trip was their first trip to New York.
[37:36] Paul’s favorite trip was also their trip to New York. His second favorite trip was their trip to Washington D.C.
